Story time. *sits you all down in a ring like the Hobbit children listening to Bilbo’s story in the Fellowship of the Ring* *clears throat*
Last spring, it snowed at my house on May 26th. It was one of those epic snowstorms, where the flakes are super big and fluffy, and falling very thick and gently because there’s no wind at all. It was amazingly beautiful, especially because, it being nearly June, all the snow on the ground was mostly gone already, and the flowers were blooming, and the lilac tree by our porch was in full swing. In short, a photographer’s heaven. I took a bunch of pictures, and I was (and still am) extremely proud of them. I think they are some of the best I have ever taken. I posted some of them here, if you recall.
Near the end of that summer, Mommy had the brilliant idea that I should submit some of them to Vermont Life, a tourism magazine for Vermont – full of tons of gorgeous photos and stories about the state. So I did. That was near the end of August, and I never heard a word from them. But I emailed the woman I sent the photos to over Christmas Break, to ask when they would know if they were using them or not. She replied and said that they hadn’t yet finalized the magazine, and would only email me if they did choose the pictures anyway. So I was like ok, so mine probably have not been selected. Which is what I expected.
Then, a couple weeks ago, I got an email saying that although everything was not completely final yet, Vermont Life thought they were going to be using both my photos. Both of them. I kinda freaked out a little bit, and had to exert great willpower to keep from posting about it on here XD Because it wasn’t final, and I didn’t know any details or anything. I assumed they would be printed, at most, half-page-sized. If I got really really really lucky. And probably, they were going to be even smaller than that.
But.
Email.
This morning.
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.
Hi Anna,OK, so the issue is going to the printer today and right now your lilacs with snow photo is on the cover ($500) and your lilacs with the barn photo is a two-page spread in our scenics section ($250). I sincerely doubt either of those will change, unless something bizarre happens at the printer—I can’t imagine, but until it’s truly in print, I suppose there’s still a chance of change. They are beautiful photos. Thanks very much for submitting! …Best and congrats!Judy
What is life.
I may or may not have started weeping literal tears of joy.
Ok, I did.
The front cover of the magazine. And a two-page spread inside. Those are the two “highest” categories, in terms of pay and in terms of…general epicness.
WHAT THE HECK GUYS.
I’m dreaming, right? Someone smack me. WHAT IS THIS.
Life. Why is life so weird. Help. O_O My brain died.
Anyhow. This is the picture that is going on the front cover:
And this one’s getting the two-page spread:
I can’t believe they really want to print this last one so big…maybe it looks better that way, but it reallyreally bugs me a lot that the lamp isn’t really in a third. Apparently, they don’t care. XD
But guys.
…I’m rich and famous.
Relatively speaking.
BUT IT STILL COUNTS!
They’re paying me seven hundred and fifty dollars. For some PICTURES. Two little pictures. How…is that even remotely possible. And I can…guys…I can buy a new camera. I. Can. Buy. A. New. Camera. Andandand a remote shutter release too. =D \m/ OR PUT MONEY TOWARDS ANOTHER LENS. (or college but we aren’t going to mention that because no not allowed this money is mine, I tell you. MINE. not for the bank to steal. They are already going to steal some of it in the form of taxes anyway. CAN’T HAVE MORE! -_-)
Oh my baff. The possibilities are endless. …what is life…
THIS IS ME RIGHT NOW

…and if you’re thinking of buying lenses, go for the Canon 50mm f/1.4. It’s incredible. *nods*

I’ll look at it. I’ve heard that getting a 50mm lens may not be the best thing, depending on where you want to go with photography and things (I currently can’t remember the reasons why, though…) but I would really like a prime lens, and one with a wide aperture. So. I may end up going that way next anyway. ;) I also would really like a super wide-angle lens, too, though…and a macro. But those are both more expensive than normal lenses. =P
Darnit. I just want one lens that does EVERYTHING. =D hehehe. …and that doesn’t cost three million dollars. X

*Gives a standing ovation* CONGRATULATIONS!!!! It is soooo cool that your photos are going to be featured! I can see why they picked them. They are simply stunning! Especially the one with the barn. I love the visual contrast in that one.

Thanks! Haha, I know…that one is (if I am allowed to say this of my own photography) one of my best…I’m super proud of it. the contrast is so epic. I think it’s good enough to almost have been taken by a professional.
*cough*
Which according to Vermont Life, I am now…
Ok so that’s kinda a bit of pressure. XD AND AWESOMENESS.
